Williams-Sonoma, a retailer based in San Francisco, is looking for customer service representatives in 17 states. If the company name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps some of its brands will do: Pottery Barn, West Elm, Rejuvenation, and Mark and Graham are all under its umbrella.

(Speaking of which, you can get a Bridgehampton Outdoor Metal Umbrella at a discounted price of $556. No? Alright then.)

As a customer service representative for the parent company, you’ll be handling customer questions and concerns regarding product purchases and delivery. Your tasks will include:

  • Explaining product information (while simultaneously trying not to lose your temper at impertinent questions)
  • Placing orders (which, seriously, is harder than some people think)
  • Processing returns (and trying to placate irate customers, of course)
  • Checking inventory (Think you’re eagle-eyed? Prove it!)

To apply for this post, you need to have a high school diploma or GED, along with effective communication and data entry skills. You should also have at least a year’s worth of customer service experience, specifically in an environment where key indicators are performance-based or metrics-driven.

As for tech specs, a hard-wired internet connection is a must-have, as is a 15-inch monitor, a webcam, and a USB headset fitted with a microphone. The benefits for customer service reps include 401(k); medical, dental, and vision insurance; and—get this—a 40% discount on most merchandise.

Of course, when 40% discounts are on the table, all bets are off. So, head here to submit your application. Who knows? You might get an outdoor umbrella at a great price.
