Some employers show great dedication to their employees’ well-being, from actively listening and identifying needs to offering the right benefits and innovative solutions.

In order to help employees make informed choices, companies hire change agents or benefits enrollers, who visit businesses during the open enrollment season to educate employees on what benefits best meet their needs.

Is this a job you could see yourself doing? If so, we have news for you: Greenlight, a division of Optavise, is in search of a benefits enroller. As part of Optavise, Greenlight focuses on recruiting and training members for the group’s seasonal benefits enrollers and support teams.

Read on to see what the job entails and whether you’re a suitable applicant.

Do you qualify?

To apply for this vacancy, you will have to meet certain criteria. The successful candidate should have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Though it’s a remote position and you can work from the comfort of your home, you still need to have a quiet workspace where you can perform your daily duties uninterrupted. A fast internet connection and a cell phone are also a must.

You will be required to travel for up to three weeks in the fall open enrollment period, which means you will need to remain flexible. In addition, all candidates should have resident-state life and health insurance licenses prior to application. If you want to increase your odds, it will help to have active non-resident licenses in multiple states as well as experience with one-on-one open enrollment support.

Benefits educators working for Greenlight are United States residents. However, they can work remotely or on-site, depending on client needs.

What does the job entail?

In this job, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Online and in-person training on new technology needs, clients’ benefits strategies, and more
  • Educating client employees on benefits packages and encouraging them to use the benefits when needed (via telephone calls or in-person meetings)
  • Using a variety of systems and carrier platforms to complete employee benefit elections
  • Acting on behalf of clients’ HR departments and representing their culture to workers

As a benefits educator for Greenlight, you will be required to consult a client’s employees about benefits and insurance programs, among them hospital indemnity, PPO and EPO plans, short- and long-term disability, critical illness, term life, accident, and high-deductible health plans.
