Shopping for home items is supposed to be fun, even relaxing, so why does it turn into a stressful experience more often than not?
Here’s why: steep prices, disagreements in the family, and the sheer number of choices you have to make. Apparently, it’s not as simple as picking out a couch and deciding it’s soft enough.
That’s why there are people who are paid to make shoppers’ lives easier. Guess what? It’s a job you can do from the comfort of your own home. (How apropos, huh?)
This job is being offered right now by WayFair, the popular home furnishing store that’s been making waves in the online retail ocean since the early 2000s. To ensure the quality of its customer experience, WayFair is looking for a customer service consultant who can perform their duties remotely.
More on WayFair
It’s never easy to take on the likes of Amazon, IKEA, and Walmart, so give credit where it’s due: WayFair got into that arena and slugged it out.
When Niraj Shah and Steve Conine launched WayFair (initially CSN stores) in 2002, they envisioned an accessible online platform where millions of shoppers could easily explore options (instead of, you know, feeling out half a dozen sofas). As WayFair grew, its expansive catalog came to include everything, from furniture and home improvement solutions to patio and garden merchandise. It even offers a host of baby products!
Over the course of two decades, WayFair passed one impressive milestone after another. According to Crunchbase, the company raked in more than $1.3 billion in sales in 2014. That was the same year it went public, raising a cool $319 million as part of its IPO.
After opening a number of offices across the United States—in locations such as New York and Utah—WayFair gained an international foothold when it launched operations in England, Ireland, and Germany. All told, more than 2,300 employees keep the wheels of WayFair turning.
No need to worry about office space, though. You can create your own at home when you snag the job of customer service consultant.
