Remote work is here to stay, so why not take advantage of it? Ditching your 9-to-5 job to work from the comfort of your home doesn’t always mean you will do the same thing over and over. There are tons of remote jobs out there, so you can either do something as a side gig or make a career out of it.

Some companies don’t require a degree or experience, and some will even train you. In certain cases, the employer doesn’t offer medical or retirement plans, but it’s not all that bad considering the other benefits of working from home.

From enjoying flexible hours and a cozy workspace to avoiding the hassle of commutes and traffic jams and getting to spend more time with family, there is much to be said about the perks of remote work.

Teaching has become a hugely popular online occupation, not least because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Although kids have gone back to school, online teaching remains an excellent way for students to prepare for exams or take extra classes in a subject.

Where can you find a ton of online teaching jobs?

Elevate K-12 is an education platform that provides online tutoring to school children from kindergarten up to Grade 12 across the United States.

Students get certified teachers who have graduated from U.S. universities. The curriculum is standardized, keeping the live classes as close to traditional classrooms as possible.

While most platforms offer online tutoring via Zoom, Skype, or other conferencing tools, the students at Elevate K-12 are physically present in a classroom and the teacher is displayed on a large screen in front of them.

This method has proved successful for Elevate K-12. Within just seven years of its launch, the company has attracted around 2,000 online tutors who have taught over 6 million hours worth of classes to more than 120,000 students across the United States.

What do you need to apply?

It’s not easy landing a job at Elevate K-12 as the application requirements are rather strict. First, you should be a United States citizen, have English as your mother tongue, and be a graduate of a U.S. university.

To increase your chances of getting hired, you need to have teaching experience and an active teaching certificate in the subject.

You will have to make yourself available for 3+ hours straight, consistently, from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Online tutoring for Elevate K-12 comes with lots of benefits, including a competitive salary (you get paid from $22 to $50 an hour, depending on the subject), an additional 20% paid admin time, and free training.
